Day 92

Andy (former Character) mentioned the Lake Norman Toastmasters club. I must admit this was the first time I had ever heard of this club. I did a little research and became pretty intrigued. Their motto is “Become the Speaker and Leader You Want to Be”. The whole idea behind the club is to provide a supportive environment that allows individuals to practice their speaking and presentation skills. The goal is to help improve their skills in delivering great presentations, easily lead teams and conduct meetings, give and receive constructive evaluations, and be a better listener. I plan on attending one of their meetings and get a feel for the club and perhaps join. I do interviews on a daily basis and can see the benefit of sharpening my speaking skills. If this club really does result in one being a better communicator it is worth its weight in gold. Click on the picture above to visit the Lake Norman website.

Car of the Day:

Character of the Day:

Lynn – The White Russian

Lynn is Nazira’s (former Character) right hand woman. If you see Nazira, nine out of ten times Lynn will be with her. She has a fantastic sense of humor, I always enjoy talking to her. Lynn is the first person in her family to be born in the south, aka. Georgia. Her great-grandparents are from Russia and came to Ellis Island. She received her degree in psychology from Warren Wilson in Asheville. Her career started out as a Vendor Relations Officer for a telecommunications company. Realizing that she is naturally gifted when it comes to business she was recruited by Nazira to help her run her company. Not only does Lynn know how to make you laugh and pick your brain, she’s also an adrenalin junky. She is an aspiring sky diver with three jumps under her belt and she loves the outdoors. While she was in Costa Rica doing a cross cultural psychology study she went white water rafting and flying across a 14 platforms through a rain forest ravine on a zip line. She smiles and says, “The locals called me loco gringo when I started zip lining upside down”. She is also a movie buff with the gift of being able to quote most of the great movies. Lynn is one of my favorite regulars at Starbucks who always makes me laugh. Her favorite thing about Birkdale… “People watching, it’s almost better than the airport… less mullets though”.
