Kelly – The Sweet Southern Bell
I met Kelly at an open house tour that involved the Ragin’ Uptown bus. That is the same night that I met Gaston (Day 228 ) her husband. Kelly’s charming southern accent confirms that she was born and raised in Cherryville, NC, just northwest of Gastonia. She is a master in the use of the word “Bless” and I never knew there were so many different ways to use it! She attended UNC Charlotte where she received her degree in Marketing. This is where she breaks the norm – her first job out of college was working for Addison Whitney, a branding firm here in Charlotte, where she is still employed 9 years later. She started out answering the phones and has long since advanced to the Creative Department. I love what she does…coming up with brand names for new products – products that you see every day in the grocery store. She is a big antique buff and enjoys hunting for that next perfect piece to adorn her house. She also loves to work out and actually met Gaston at the gym after he had spotted her across the room on the treadmill. They have been married now for 1 1/2 years and truly enjoy each other’s company. The other man in Kelly’s life is Cooper, her Italian Greyhound. During our conversation she was curious as to how I could remember all the facts without writing anything down. After 244 interviews it tends to get a little easier. Shannon and I love hanging out with Gaston & Kelly and look forward to seeing them in the future. Her favorite thing about Birkdale… “the shopping of course!”
